Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
